The two discussed the bill and Hutchinson told her he would do what he could to stop it.
“He said, ‘I want you to know that I support you, I’m here for you and I want you to know that this is not how the community feels,’” she said. “He was very supportive of me.”
The bill’s sponsor, state Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, had not responded to requests for comment by press time. The bill’s co-sponsor in the House, state Rep. Tony Hilliard Jr., R-Lithonia, also had not responded to a request for comment as of press time.
